Plumbing work in London - and across the UK - is charged at the standard 20% VAT rate, whether it is for a homeowner or a business. A few jobs qualify for less: heat pumps and other energy-saving installations in homes are 0% until 31 March 2027, and grant-funded heating work for people aged 60 or over, or on certain benefits, can be 5%. If your turnover is below £90,000, you do not have to register for VAT.
